A Look Back, at a Republican Controlled Congress

Saturday marked the end of a Republican majority in congress. I think we should take a moment to look back at what has been accomplished over these last 12 years.

Um... Anyone? Something Accomplished? Oh, there was that flag burning amendm..... no, wait, that didn't pass. They banned gay... no, no they didn't do that. They reduced the deficit - no. Well, at least they gave tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%, which although I am firmly against, I do hope to be one someday, so that will be a nice perk.

For those of you that don't know, under the new Bush tax cut, if I make $1,000,000, I save $30,210! That's a little over 3%!!!! Or, if you're one of those poor saps who makes only 45,000 a year, you save a whopping 226 dollars! 0.50% of your total income! Fantastic! Don't even get me started on how much you save if you make only 18,000 a year (hint: 50 male deers).

Wow, totally worth ruining the entire country. Do your own math here.

But let's really do a run-down of the things the Republican majority has accomplished. They pass the prescription drug plan, which I hear the elderly have finally begun to understand the choices. They also banned partial birth abortions. Which, again, are not things. They "Canned Spam" - tell that to my yahoo account.

There was "No child left behind." Although plenty of children do have no health care, but at least they're not left behind. Instead they are "held back." Totally different.

And last, but certainly least: The Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act. Thank God, about freakin' time.

I can't wait until January 4th.

Here's a comment or two for ya: If you want to burn the flag do me a favor and wrap yourself in it first. The gays still want more rights, ok , 10% off vaseline and back in the closet. Tax cuts are just what the country needs, you idiot, capitolism is built on spending money. Oh, thats right your probably socialist since you most likely believe in govt controlled health insurance, Billery's plan. Great idea to turn over trillions of dollars to the feds to manage. Social security anyone. And here's what I hate that you can call our General, in wartime, Betray Us. Look up the word betray, you idiot: reveal wanted information to enemy, to deceive. That my friend is exactly what your doing for my country. Using exploytation for everything, In other words to advance ones own agenda for selfish purposes. All I got left to say is this:
VOTE DEMOCRATIC, ITS EASIER THAN THINKING.

Where did you get your numbers for the tax cut? Doesn't seem right. Eventually everyone earning up to $40,000 was not taxed and the burden of taxes was placed on the people making more money. The more you made, the more you were taxed to offset the tax cuts for the poor.

We had the greatest economic boom of any generation during those years, why is that bad? The Democrats put us in the position we are in now because of selfishness and greed, gimme back my republican controlled congress!

I'm not trying to say this in an argumentative way, but I actually have no idea what you are talking about.

As you can see from the post, all I used was some tax calculator from the Heritage Organization. The Heritage Organization is a Republican research company, to reduce any bias on my end. And the post is about how much the Bush tax cuts saved money for the average American compared to the rich Americans. It had nothing to do with who is taxed more and why. Also, all of those numbers are from 2006, when this post was made (again, using the calculator provided by the Republican research organization). I have no idea if they are still accurate. I don't really care, either.

To the second anonymous person:

"We had the greatest economic boom of any generation during those years, why is that bad? The Democrats put us in the position we are in now because of selfishness and greed"

I think this was meant to be satirical. So thanks, it made me laugh.
